Poem: River Poet

Speak to me your songs, o river poet
down the streams of life and unto death.
Give to me the words to breathe anew
in this shuttered, drowning world.
Every word, a drop of water that bleeds
into earth to feed the parched and dying.
Water as clear as sky, a clear as truth,
as clear as eyes that know the world.
Tell me song of the world, of the shape
of love, life, and everything in between.
Speak to me your songs, o river poet
before the streams take you away into forever.
